Glee Season 4 Scoop: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Hudson Book Season 4 Guest Stints

Sarah Jessica Parker is returning to the small screen next fall via a one-episode guest stint on Glee. Additionally, Kate Hudson will join the cast for a six-episode arc.

Details on their respective characters are being kept under wraps.

Meanwhile, Fox president Kevin Reilly confirmed Monday morning on a conference call with reporters that the musical comedy will adopt a “show-within-a-show” format next season as it juggles McKinley High life and (presumably) Rachel and Kurt’s Big Apple NYADA adventures.

Yes we are. All of us are. I think only – so far from what we’ve heard, only 3 people are confirmed to come back next year so it’s weird. It’s strange. It’s very much in limbo but you know, that’ show business you have to go with it. Hope for the best. That’s all you can do.

Glee Exclusive: Fox Exec Touts 'Powerful Finale' That Will Set Up "Exciting, Consistent" Season 4

Nineteen days. That’s how long it is until Glee returns from its winter hibernation with the first of seven consecutive original episodes, culminating with the Season 3 finale on May 22.

And according to one of the show’s (arguably biased) top execs, the April 10 spring premiere will be worth the nearly two-month wait. “It’s exciting and is driving towards graduation and an exciting end to the season,” teased Dana Walden, co-chairman of 20th Century Fox Television, at this week’s TV Academy Foundation Summit.

Walden added that the final batch of episodes are “emotional” and “funny,” and set the stage for “a very powerful finale when viewers get to see what’s on the horizon for all of these characters that people love so deeply. We’re [building to] a very exciting launch into next season.”

On the topic of Season 4, Walden declined to discuss what Glee‘s post-graduation universe would look like — or which members of the current cast would be populating it. But she assured fans that, hen the dust settles, the show will still feel like Glee.

“I see it as a continuation of Glee,” she said of next season. “I don’t define it in any one way or another. It feels like Glee to me. The ideas that Ryan [Murphy]‘s discussed with me feel consistent with this amazing series. It feels very consistent in a dynamic and entertaining way.”

Kevin McHale Talks ‘Glee’ Season 3: Artie’s New Love Interest, Learning Spanish & Michael Jackson

The cast of “Glee” often acknowledges that Kevin McHale is one of the best dancers in the group, even though his character is in a wheelchair.

Though McHale, who plays bespectacled glee club member Artie Abrams, may not be able to show off all of his well-honed moves too often on Fox’s hit comedy, he definitely makes up for it with his vocal ability. The actor has even scored the approval ofDame Helen Mirren, who is lending her voice to “Glee.” Mirren told OK! magazine, “He’s got a great voice… and he’s a great dancer!”

Since Season 1, McHale has tackled some of the more nerve-wracking classics, soloing on songs likeMichael Jackson’s “P.Y.T.,” Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” and Season 2’s hit mash-up “Thriller/Heads Will Roll.”

So it should come as no surprise that McHale is one of the forces behind “Glee’s” upcoming Michael Jackson tribute episode. Being one of the King of Pop’s biggest fans — and having a part in nearly every Jackson song covered on the show — McHale and co-star Harry Shum Jr. went to the writers and suggested a few Jackson classics for the episode.

HuffPost TV caught up with McHale to talk about the highly-anticipated Jackson tribute, Artie’s new love interest and what band he’s been trying to cover on “Glee” since Season 1. Hint: Darren Criss is also a big fan of the British quartet!
